Tonight is the beginning of the 40 day fast, and the 40 day count down to 100 thousand people joining to pray in Nashville. I am so excited about what God is doing in my life and in the nation! I have great expectancy for Him to move, to rain Holy Spirit down upon our churches and to breath His breath of life on our hearts.
This morning, something strange happened at work. Our first costumer was a lady possibly in her mid 50’s. I rang her up on the cash register and told her her total was 19.67. When the words left my mouth I knew the number was significant, but could not place it. As my mind scrambled around, she remarked, “1967, that was a good year!” I smiled and as she walked away I finally placed it. 1967, the summer of love, 40 years ago, the reason this fast was called. That hit me as completely set up by God. The fact that she would even mention that year, and it all happened on this particular morning when the fast begins!
It makes me sad that the things our nation should be mourning and repenting over are the very things we celebrate openly. We are celebrating this as a wonderful 40 year anniversary, but I’m thankful for the privilege to be part of a people that will stand up and proclaim that immorality is wrong. A people who will rend their hearts in repentance and ask God for mercy. This is truly history in the making, because God will listen to a people turning to Him with their whole hearts. He will act, and I am so excited to see what He is doing this summer!
